Will the Future of PC Deployment Crush Your IT Department?

Topics in this article

While none of us have crystal balls, for obvious reasons, Dell does its best to predict the future when it comes to PCs. Innovation is always top of mind, as is a continuous focus on customers. What do we see? The PC market continues to grow for us and we have exciting things planned. Rich, immersive content for both work and play, dramatically changing workspaces, Win10 transition, and emerging areas of computing including AR, VR and AI are only a few trends that are top of mind in the PC industry.

For IT organizations, this means they will continue to deploy PCs to their employees who continue to be heavily reliant on them. Deploying PCs can certainly bury IT staff with many tasks – and more importantly, keep them from working on more strategic initiatives that will help propel the organization forward. In my post, I describe these time-devouring tasks; “Say goodbye to labor-intensive, hello to light-touch deployment for PCs”.

How can IT put PCs in the hands of their users without draining staff time and resources? IDC has put forth a deployment optimization model to help IT organizations understand how to deploy systems in less time, with fewer resources, and with better results. The model provides plenty for IT professionals to think about, including the wisdom of leaving some or all of the tasks to deployment experts who deploy PCs all day, every day.

IDC, as a webinar guest speaker, will share more about their view of the PC market, where it is headed, and best practices associated with their deployment optimization model. Hope you will join –and bring your questions with you as we look forward to an active discussion.
