Modernizing with RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines and VxRail

Fresh foods purveyor Noble foods deploys Avamar, RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines, PowerProtect DD and VXrail to keep things fresh.

As a supplier of fresh food brands in the United Kingdom, Noble Foods‘ presence – and their IT footprint – spans a number of locations, including 14 farms, various packaging, production and sales offices across the UK. A long-time customer of Dell, the company wanted to modernize its compute, storage and data protection infrastructure. More importantly, the company also wanted to modernize in a way that would simplify its operations while also keeping up with significant projected growth over the next five years.

A hyperconverged infrastructure fit the bill, and Noble Foods chose Dell Technologies and VxRail. For the critical task of protecting that virtual environment, Noble Foods chose RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines, part of Dell Data Protection Suite  and PowerProtect DD appliances for storage.

The results have been overwhelmingly positive, with reductions in their storage footprint, compute and environmental costs.  According to Martin Mailes, Infrastructure Team Manager at Noble foods, the confidence and peace of mind that comes from RP4VMs’ snapshot-based recoveries is critical.

Our data is safer now with RP4VMs. Before, all we had was the previous night’s backups. Now we have all these additional snapshots throughout the day.” – Martin Mailes, Infrastructure Team Manager, Noble Foods

Key to the success of this deployment is the combination of VxRail and RecoverPoint for VMs. Tightly integrated with VMware, this solution provides a robust and effective data backup and recovery environment. Mailes, or his administrators, can manage the protection of virtual machines down to the individual machine and recover data, when needed, at any given point in time.

With VMware vCenter integration for management, the solution quickly and easily extends VMware environments, like that of Noble Foods, without adding complexity. For Noble Foods, simplicity was a factor in the deployment.

The deployment was executed in conjunction with Dell Technologies partner Constor design and deploy the perfect environment. As both a Dell Technologies Platinum Partner and a VMware Advanced Partner – and Dell Services Delivery Partner of the Year in 2018 – Constor had the specialist skills and technical expertise to provide just what Noble needed.

This success story is a great example of Dell’s ability to bring a variety of technologies and innovations together to solve the unique challenges of customers.

The great cooperation between all parties, made this deployment quick, effective and pain-free for the customer, and that is always our goal.
