One of the most appealing aspects of a cloud operating model is the ability to get up and running quickly, with the goal of delivering a superior digital experience for your end-customers and other stakeholders.
With the introduction of instance-based offerings for Dell Technologies Cloud Platform (VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail), we’ve drastically simplified sizing and ordering for on-premises cloud resources with an intuitive selection of solutions aligned to your workload requirements. In parallel, we’re launching the Dell Technologies Cloud Console which delivers a simple checkout process and the ability to manage your entire hybrid cloud environment in one place.
You can now subscribe to instances designed for your workloads in a few clicks through the Cloud Console—and get it deployed in your datacenter, co-location facility, or at your Edge locations in as few as 14 days.¹ This means you can rapidly plan your cloud solutions without dealing with the complexity of configuring hardware for specific workloads, enabling you to focus on innovation instead of infrastructure procurement.
These new offerings are available through a single monthly subscription price that includes all hardware, software, and services components, enabling you to get started with hybrid cloud for as low as $47 per instance per month.² That’s up to 3x times less expensive per instance than an equivalent AWS Outposts.³
It’s also easy to scale your deployment by ordering new instances without having to renegotiate terms or, in some cases, without having to extend contracts⁴. Your new order is simply added to the existing subscription term, which most of our competitors don’t offer.
Instances designed for your enterprise workloads
Instances deliver standardized combinations of compute (in some cases GPU/accelerators), memory, storage, and networking resources, on which a virtual machine or container can run. They are aligned and optimized to workload requirements, ranging from small (4GB) to extra-large (32GB) memory-to-CPU core ratios. Additionally, we offer special purpose instance types with Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) from Nvidia ™ to address Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
The DTCP predefined instance types, with their memory-to-core ratio:
- Compute Optimized (4GB)
- General Purpose (8GB)
- Memory Optimized (16GB)
- Large-Scale Memory Optimized (32GB)
- Accelerator Optimized (GPU/FPGA)
Instances are ordered in quantities of 50, 100, 200, and 500 [instances] through the Cloud Console. They can be added together to run a larger quantity of instances of the same type, or you can mix and match instance types to support multiple workloads within the same solution.
Extending your infrastructure to support a remote workforce
In light of current world events, empowering your users to connect and access all their files and applications on any device, anywhere, anytime has never been more important. To help organizations on that journey, w recently completed third party testing comparing DTCP against public cloud providers offering popular remote working solutions; VMware Horizon on DTCP against Amazon Workspaces on AWS and Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop on Azure—and we’re very excited about the outcomes.
Using results provided by industry standard test suites Login VSI and Lakeside SysTrack, the remote worker environment hosted by VMware Horizon on DTCP repeatedly showed superior results when compared to Amazon Workspaces on AWS and Microsoft Windows Virtual Desktop on Azure in the areas of overall performance and typical user experience.
Delivering IT projects faster
With a simple way to consume and order cloud resources, you can now get your applications up and running quickly with Dell Technologies Cloud Platform. Deploy a hybrid cloud environment in as few as 14 days—and expand deployment in as few as 5 days¹. And with full stack integration with VMware Cloud Foundation, you can take advantage of automated lifecycle management, making upgrades easy and fast—only 3 clicks, 90 minutes for precheck and fully integrated HW and SW stack upgrades⁵.
Additionally, if our standardized workload instances with subscription pricing don’t meet your unique application requirements, you can always contact Dell Technologies to create a fully customized solution, as VxRail offers multiple compute, memory, storage, network and graphics options to cover a wide range of needs. In addition, you can tailor your payment options with the industry’s broadest end-to-end portfolio of flexible consumption and as-a-Service (aaS) solutions through Dell Technologies On Demand.
