As Lionel mentioned a few months ago, our new software group demonstrates a natural progression that Dell has been on since its inception. Evolving from providing solutions to the client, then to the data center, and on to converged solutions, Dell is now delivering software-led converged solutions. Today, the Dell Software Leadership Team, headed by John Swainson, was in San Francisco with media and analysts to discuss the software group, the market opportunity it aims to capture, and Dell’s future plans and strategy for software and the expected improved outcomes for our customers.
Trillions of connected devices, the explosion of data, and cloud are driving the need for software that helps people and organizations access information anytime or anywhere, gain insight into volumes of data, and more quickly adopt new ways of delivering services and solutions.
Dell’s software organization leverages the strength of existing Dell software assets, as well as those obtained through organic and acquisitive growth, to better provide our customers with competitively differentiated hardware, software and services solutions. Dell recently announced its intent to acquire Quest, an IT management software provider, which extends Dell’s existing capabilities in security and systems and data management.
Dell Software will initially focus on these four core areas:
- Security: SecureWorks, SonicWALL
- Systems Management – Quest, KACE, WYSE, AppAssure, Dell Advanced Infrastructure Manager (AIM)
- Business Intelligence – Boomi, Dell Quickstart Data Warehouse Appliance
- Applications – Boomi, Dell Cloud Business Applications
