Office 2010 Now an Option for System Orders on Dell.com

As of this week, those of you buying a new PC on Dell.com will likely come across a new option that you can only get here for the week: getting a full version of Microsoft’s Office 2010 pre-installed on your new system. What makes this noteworthy is that full editions of the three versions of Office 2010 won’t even be available in retail stores before June 15. Here's a screenshot of Office 2010 options in the Dell.com configurator for a Studio XPS 7100 desktop:

This latest version of Office 2010 has some new, cool features and been well-received by those who have spent time reviewing it, and as a parent of a soon to be college-bound daughter, I’m definitely interested in making sure she has access to the tools she needs to ensure she’s successful.

While Office has always been about being productive, Microsoft has incorporated some features that not only make it social media friendly, but also allows you to access your stuff from other PCs and even smart phones. I know this will come in handy when my daughter gets to class and realizes she left her research paper on the printer back in the dorm.

If you’re not ready to make the commitment to purchase a full version of Office 2010 with your new PC, you can still take it for a test drive. Most Dell consumer PCs, except Alienware systems, will come with Office 2010 Starter pre-installed. Office Starter includes fully licensed versions of Word and Excel however, it should be noted that Office Starter is available at no charge because it includes advertisements. The good news is that if you decide you like Office, or want access to all the features, it’s simple to upgrade online to the full version that works best for you.
