We knew coming into 2020 that it would be a banner year for SD-WAN as the technology continued to mature and grow in adoption. What we didn’t anticipate was the massive global change in the way we work and how we access business applications, with entire workforces shifting from offices, classrooms, and facilities to home. Modernization and transformation have quickly accelerated from buzzwords to necessities.
Modernization and Transformation have quickly accelerated from buzzwords to necessities.
At Dell Technologies, our Networking Edge portfolio is helping organizations of all sizes take on new challenges and rapidly modernize their WAN architectures. Our two product families, SD-WAN Solution powered by VMware and the Virtual Edge Platform (VEP), continue to grow and offer even more flexibility and choice to IT leaders seeking to revolutionize the way their companies operate networking at the edge.
I’m excited to share our latest expansion to the Networking Edge portfolio, with a new hardware model for SD-WAN Solution powered by VMware now available: the Dell SD-WAN Edge 510LTE.
The 510LTE marks the debut of built-in LTE functionality in Dell SD-WAN Solution. Featuring a fully-integrated LTE modem with dual SIM card slots, this new device enables customers to include powerful 3G/4G cellular networks as an option when designing and deploying their SD-WAN initiatives.
LTE opens many valuable avenues for SD-WAN Solution. It helps enable enterprise-grade connectivity in locations without ground-based connections like MPLS, fiber, or broadband. Depending on the region, wireless networking can also offer significant cost savings compared to other broadband options.
There’s also the fantastic option to leverage LTE as a backup to broadband. A combination of ground-based circuits and LTE can provide a holistic business continuity solution, helping to keep end users up and running.
The new 510LTE joins our portfolio of Edge 600 series models for home and branch locations and the Edge 3000 series for core offices and data centers. The entire SD-WAN Edge hardware portfolio is powered by Intel processors, and delivers a modern and flexible x86-based platform for rapidly deploying SD-WAN. All models are factory-integrated with VMware SD-WAN software by Velocloud, named a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant three years in a row.
With powerful devices engineered by Dell Technologies paired with VMware SD-WAN software, our joint SD-WAN Solution makes networking modernization fast, easy, and secure. We’re thrilled to add LTE to this winning combination and offer even more options for deployment and connectivity.
No matter which model works best for your needs, SD-WAN Solution combines hardware and software in an all-in-one solution for turnkey modernization. And the solution is backed by full lifecycle management from a single trusted vendor — Dell Technologies.
