There’s an electric atmosphere here in Dublin at the moment, as the Web Summit, tech’s largest global gathering, draws even closer.
To announce our official support for the Summit, I recently had the pleasure of meeting with co-founder Paddy Cosgrove (pictured left of me below), and his enthusiasm and passion for the event was infectious.
“Michael Dell is the role model for many young entrepreneurs today. The fact that the company is 30 years old yet still maintains a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship is central to its long term success,” Cosgrove noted. “We are thrilled to have Dell on board this year – we have long believed the team there would be an ideal partner for us and we are delighted that this ambition has come to fruition.”
At Dell, we’re also hugely excited for our team to have the opportunity to meet with 20,000+ attendees, including startups, entrepreneurs and investors from over 90 countries across the world.
Our long-term support for entrepreneurs has been widely documented. We were founded by an inspiring entrepreneur, and our extraordinary growth story puts us in a great position to be able to advise and support growing businesses with the technology, networks, knowledge, and finance essential for success.
At this year’s Summit, we’re going to be playing on our historic past with an onsite presence modelled after a dorm room – the site where our founder Michael Dell set up our original HQ.
We’ll be hosting a number of interactive events including a ‘Pitch Perfect’ coaching session, where senior Dell executives will impart their expertise and provide feedback and advice for the 200 startups shortlisted to take part in the Summit’s official pitch competition. In addition, Dell experts will be available to discuss a range of topics relevant to entrepreneurs, including how to manage customer segmentation and how to scale a company for growth, with our team also on-hand to provide business and technology consulting to all attendees.
The event is a natural extension of our global Dell for Entrepreneurs programme which offers a number of initiatives for start-ups and entrepreneurs seeking to grow and succeed, with specific local initiatives designed to support individual entrepreneurial communities.
With a renewed entrepreneurial spirit and energy alive across our own organisation, the stage is set for the Summit to be a fantastic event for everyone involved. If you’re not able to join us in person then I’d encourage you to check-out the updates and conversations online live from the event.
