Q: How are product line names changing?

A: From January 2025 we’ll have three PC categories that are differentiated based on customer needs:

• Dell: A diverse portfolio perfect for school, play and work.(formerly Inspiron, XPS)  
• Dell Pro: For those who need professional-grade products in an IT managed environment. (formerly Latitude, Vostro, OptiPlex)
• Dell Pro Max: For maximum performance seekers. (formerly Precision)  

These are the same great products, now unified under the Dell Technologies brand to help streamline the buying experience.  

Q: Why is Dell changing product line names?

A: We surveyed more than 13,000 customers who were seeking clearer differentiation within our extensive client solutions portfolio.

Our streamlined product portfolio removes overlap and introduces a unified naming structure across PCs, Displays, Peripherals, and Services, offering you a more intuitive shopping experience. 

We still offer the same great products, just with new names. And with the rapid advancements in AI, and our new streamlined portfolio, there’s never been a better time to consider upgrading your Dell devices with Windows 11 for an improved and more secure experience. 

Q: What other changes is Dell making?

A: We’re streamlining our product tiering to be consistent and intuitive across the entire client solutions portfolio:

• Dell & Dell Pro: Essential systems offering a balanced mix of features and reliability, making it a great choice for everyone.
• Dell Plus & Dell Pro Plus: Most scalable performance.
• Dell Premium & Dell Pro Premium: Most mobile and designed forward.

Q: What about Alienware?

A: Our Alienware brand remains your go-to for top-tier gaming. It’s clear that gamers love Alienware, and we’re committed to keeping it that way. Check out our Alienware lineup on alienware.com. 

Q: What changes are planned for desktops?

A: Based on the extensive research we’ve conducted, customers have asked that we continue to differentiate between our desktops. We will use industry standard form factor naming and use Plus tiering as necessary to clearly distinguish between configurations, like Dell Pro Tower and Dell Slim Plus. In summary, you still get the great innovative products you expect from Dell, but now with an easier way to shop and buy. 

Q: Are you following the competition by using the word ‘Pro’?

A: The use of 'Pro' in product naming is a common practice across the PC industry, as seen with Microsoft Windows, AMD Ryzen, and Intel vPro. At Dell, however, 'Pro' is not just a label —it represents a commitment to delivering professional-grade productivity, performance, and reliability. Unlike some competitors, where 'Pro' can vary in meaning across products, Dell ensures consistency in its use of 'Pro,' setting clear expectations for our customers and reinforcing the quality and innovation they can count on in every Dell Pro product.
