Web security provider captures key markets with appliance supported by Dell OEM Solutions

clip_image002Not long ago, we shot a video featuring Websense, a leader in data security software, which is achieving global success with its Websense® V-Series™ appliance. It’s an out-of-the-box offering for the Websense TRITON™ solution, which Gartner has positioned as a leader in its Magic Quadrant for Secure Web Gateway report. In short, appliances save companies time and money, and the V-Series is a smart way for organisations to protect data. The message came through loud and clear that software providers need the right OEM solutions provider for an appliance to be successful worldwide. In Websense’s case, it couldn’t provide the appliance’s server platform or provide technical support to customers in more than 120 countries.

The company spoke to Dell OEM Solutions and gained a dedicated solution-focused OEM team to deliver its global ambitions. From this point, a detailed process of product customisation, packaging, distribution and support was put in motion – the result, a cutting-edge appliance that to all intents and purposes was a Websense product right down to its branding and the box it arrived in.

Hear more from Websense about its success in the global market:

During the video, I made a list of all the things that Websense achieved after working with Dell OEM Solutions. I thought it made impressive reading, so I’ve included it below.

  • Increased penetration in markets with complex regulatory codes
  • Efficient global supply chain for rapid deliveries
  • Improved customer retention rates – to 100 per cent
  • Maximised hardware availability with no performance issues to date
  • Dedicated support from single point of contact for simplified management
  • Great feedback from customers and uptake from channel partners

Among many things, the video revealed both the rapid growth in the appliance market and the importance of collaboration between vendors and OEM solution providers at every stage of development.
