Yet another championship is on its way to New England! This summer, Dell Technologies is proud to be the new title sponsor of its second event on the PGA TOUR.
Formerly known as the Deutsche Bank Championship, the 2nd of four FedExCup Playoff events, the Dell Technologies Championship will be played September 1st through the 4th at the TPC Boston course continuing a 15-year Labor Day tradition.
This isn’t our first rodeo in terms of golf tournaments. Dell acquired a flagship PGA TOUR event in 2016: The World Golf Championships—Dell Technologies Match Play which has been held in Austin, Texas in late March the last two years. The company provided fans with a Future Ready perspective to a traditional sport. Using the event’s mobile app, fans transformed the city streets into a real-time, data driven golf course!
We’re planning to bring this same level of excitement to Boston. Not only does the event put a smile on faces, but it also has a substantial impact on the community, economy and charities. Dell has been a long-time tournament supporter, sponsor and Founder Club partner. The Championship has been a Labor Day tradition for many, bringing together employees, families, partners and customers.

This event was originally introduced in 2003 as the Deutsche Bank Championship. It was the first time the PGA TOUR returned to Boston since the New England Classic was last held in 1998. With the introduction of the FedExCup in 2007, the tournament was elevated to its current position as the second FedExCup Playoffs event. Just last year Rory McIlroy began his final push toward the 2016 FedExCup title by winning at TPC Boston. He then closed the FedExCup Playoffs by winning the TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
We can’t wait to see what happens at our event this summer! Will we see you there?
