Dell Docking WD15 new USB type C cables not working

Hi there,

We repair all kinds of Dell stuff including dockings. we have been repairing these dockings for multiple years now yet we are now facing a problem we have never seen before and there are noo forums for our problem.

We bought new USB type C cables for the WD15 (the ones that you litterally just slide in and screw it back in) yet as soon as the new cable is in the docking it doesnt really work. so we have tested this on windows 10 and windows 11 machines and they are all up to date, we have even tried update rollbacks and that doesnt fix it either.

As soon as we plug in the docking with the new cable it sometimes works and sometimes doesnt, its a bit 50/50 really. But as soon as we install the old cable back in it works fine, this problem is completely random

I know your wondering: but if the cable works why are you replacing it?

Well thats because the cables that we replace have exterior damage like the housing being shattered or cracked.

If anyone knows a fix for this i would be very gratefull.
