About me

I'm retired now. My job titles are many:

Former IT Project manager of a Fortune 150 company reporting directly to the CIO/CEO.

Oracle Database Archictect

Software Development Team Leader

Software Engineer

Process Engineer

Automation Engineer

Plant Manager.

In all my years of development, database design, etc. I was allowed access to development servers; but never the enterprise racks on which they ran. Systems admins, network engineers and techs did the magic in the server rooms that kept my apps running 24/7. Oracle Database Administrators got to play with raid configurations, optimize hardware and apply patches.

Well, now it's my turn to learn the magic. I'm building a rack of 9G PE2900 servers for learning. A lab that will be open for public access, and physical access to students- at no charge.

When I was younger I used to build my own bleeding edge PC's but as I got older, I wanted hardware that would run consistently. Having relied on Dell in workplace environments all my career, the choice was simple. I'm a huge fan of Dell products, and admire the hardware engineering. When it comes to sys admin, network engineering I know enough to be dangerous, which is why I stay in the lab:)
