if i want to perform the following to X2 cluster:- Do I need a downtime
scale up - adding additional dpg
scale out - adding additional x-brick

Hello Wanaka,
You don’t need any downtime. It is best to add to the system when IO is low. Here is a link to a guide that explains more about scale up & scale out.
