XPS 13 9310 screen is black
XPS 13 9310
Hi. My XPS 13 9310 touch screen is black. Front light flashes 2 amber and 7 white. Ran D test and passed, but then ran it again and the colors were very dark, almost black. Laptop works fine with an external monitor. Upgraded to latest driver. The laptop screen is not appearing in the Device Manager, only shows the external monitor. When I restart the computer, the Dell logo appears very dark, then disappears and nothing else happens. Thanks for any help.

It's either a screen failure or a mainboard failure -- you may want to have a repair shop confirm which part has failed, since both part together will cost more than the system is worth at this point.

@ejn63 Hi there.
Is there any way to check if it is the screen or main board failure. I dont mind replacing the screen if thats it but dont want to spend hundreds to find it doesnt work.
I have the exact same symptoms except i have failed to get the display test to work.
All i get is a really faint dell logo (like the backlight has failed) and nothing else.
A few days ago i managed to get into the bios and run a hardware test and got Error Code: 2000-0415 "Cables - Check the following cable, jumper, connection, polyfuse or sensor:LCD Cable"
Laptop works perfectly on an external monitor.
2 amber 7 White flashing all the time.
I opened the laptop and checked the display connector onto the board and seems fine, flex cable to the display looks ok although has signs of wear and tear.

Check the output voltage on the power rail that supplied the backlight -- for that you'll either need a repair shop, or a schematic and a multimeter. Laptop-schematics.com likely has the schematic for your board.
