Windows 10 Recovery USB created from Dell's official iso fails to find SSD in XPS 15 9500

Hello folks

I have a Dell XPS 15 9500 (2021 H1 edition) with core i9-10885H, 32GB RAM and 1TB SK Hynix SSD.

I had been using Linux on it but now I want to install Dell's "official" Windows 10 on it. I downloaded Dell's Windows 10 OS recovery image and created a bootable USB with it. I followed the instructions listed on Dell's site here under the "Create a bootable USB recovery media using a Linux-based computer (using the command line)" section.

I am able to boot from the USB disk by pressing F12 and selecting the USB before boot starts. However as soon as I start Windows install, it fails with this error msg

I googled it and found that this could be fixed with installing Intel RST drivers. However, I can't seem to install those drivers. Every time, I try to install any of them, I get this error -

I have also tried installing other drivers listed by unchecking the "hide drivers" checkbox but it still doesn't find any drives.

I downloaded the file from Dell's "Drivers and Support", extracted the files to a folder and added them to a USB and tried installing them during the Windows install but it fails with an error.

I also tried booting from USB created from stock Windows 10 from Microsoft and that too failed.

I read that you can bypass this whole problem disabling RAID and selecting the AHCI controller in BIOS which I did. However, even that doesn't seem to work in my case. Windows still can't find the drive. The funny part is that with the AHCI controller, I can install and run Ubuntu without issues and therefore I know that my SSD is fine. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Can someone help?

My BIOS version is 1.20 and doesn't have a "Legacy Boot" option. Also, I have tried with Secure Boot disabled too. TPM 2.0 is enabled.

Thanks!

Thank you for the tips!
I was able to finally install Windows on the Laptop using Dell's official OS Recovery Tool. Using Linux's dd CLI tool doesn't work (at least for me). I had to setup Windows in a Virtual environment and then create a recovery USB with Dells' official tool.
Hope this helps other users.

Thanks again!

That's not the error you'd ordinarily see if the issue is the IRST driver (and the absence of being able to install the OS with AHCI enabled essentially verifies that).

What happens if you create install media using the Microsoft Media Creation tool -- will that begin the installation process properly?

You might check the link, maybe it will help.

You did buy the System with Windows pre-installed?
