TPM Firmware Upgrade needed for XPS 15 7590
XPS 15 7590
I have already installed the latest BIOS Version/Date Dell Inc. 1.19.0, 14/9/2022
And have all relevant Dell and Microsoft Updates
However, the TPM still shows the error message that it needs a firmware update
Please can someone in Dell assist?
Kind regards,
M

Dell uses a couple of manufacturer for TPM and Nuvoton is one of them. Just like BIOS firmware, it won't update if firmware file doesn't match with the hardware (TPM).
It seems that you stopped short at downloading the file before attempting to run update. These are steps in the update process:
Check status to see error is resolved.

This web page from MS may help. Also have you downloaded and installed this TPM firmware update from the 7590 support page?

Hi
Many thanks for the quick reply.
Interestingly, I hadn't heard of the TPM Firmware Update tool so needless to say I was very happy to try and fix my issue. Unfortunately, although I have an XPS 15 7590 when I input my service tag number it said that it wasn't compatible with my device.
There wasn't much on the MS page either - Dell was absent from their list
So I'm at a bit of a loss what to do now. Is Dell supposed to update it, or Microsoft, or should I contact the manufacturer of the TPM directly?
Kind regards,
M

One thing you might check is the Device Manager and look for a Security device and see what it shows.
There is another 7590 thread just below yours which seems to be having a problem booting with the Security configuration.

1. Could be true, but also false (maybe website isn't working quite right). I just use the Browse function of support.dell.com to go to a specific machine's files.
2. Dell distributes the TPM firmware updates for their own XPS laptops.

Also make sure you update the Intel Management Engine drivers.

Hello @Greencat1 , if you do want to update the TPM firmware, use @JOcean link. That is the latest and correct firmware for your machine. Just like BIOS firmware and devices drivers, older versions are working properly too. There is no problem with that TPM update (came out since last year) so you are waiting for a new BIOS update which may address an issue that didn't exist. You can try to update the TPM again, If you run into problem, post the screenshot of the error so I may assist you with the process.

Can you enter your service tag into Dell Support page and pull up the TPM firmware driver and let me know via screenshot or link. Drivers page will be similar like below.
