thunderbolt controller stopped working after windows 11 update

XPS 15 9570

XPS 15 9570

recently, my external GPU sonnet breakaway box 750ex stopped working after windows 11 update was installed.

I have been going through different forums and threads, installed, reinstalled, enabled reénabled thunderbolt in bios bla bla bla.... but nothing helped.

The problem seems to be that with this update of the windows11, the thunderbolt driver device has disappeared from the device list.

I have checked all the list of hidden devices in the device manager, but there is nothing like a thunderbolt controller. Thunderboldt egpu box shows up a lame usb device.

Anyone has any hint to get it resolved or should I go back to windows 10?

The same problem happened some 6 months ago while going through another windows 11 update. I had to revert that update to get it back to working.

Now since it has been quite some time that I updated my windows 11, I did it a shot and it just managed to waist my whole weekend.

I know my thunderbolt cable is working fine and the egpu box is fine because nothing has changed there. Same egpu, same cable, only the windows 11 update created this problem.

Someone mentioned to switch windows 11 canary updates after being part of the windows insider programme but event that did not help. So now I am running windows 11 version 24H2 to yield me no benefit.
