SSD upgrade

Hello  i'd like to upgrade the ssd from 256 GB to 1 TB on my XPS 13 9370.

I read in an older post that the ssd must suit this specifics:

  • SATA 6 Gbps or PCIe Gen 3 x4, up to 32 Gbps Interface with one M.2 solid-state drive
  • Up to 1 TB SATA drive
  • Up to 1 TB PCIe/NVMe drive

and the Samsung 970 PRO was the solution to the problem.

I was wandering if the Crucial P3 1TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD might be compatible as well.

its specifics:

interface : NVMe (PCIe Gen 3 x4) M.2 (2280)

capacity: 1 TB

Yes, you may use that drive. In fact, you can go all the way to 4 TB if you want. Here are other Crucial drives that Crucial guarantees compatible with your laptop.

Any major brand of M.2 2280 NVME would be fine. Your laptop supports only Gen 3 speed. While you can install a Gen 4 drive, it will run only at Gen 3 speed.

Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard. (Repeatedly touching a metal case part is not sufficient mitigation with modern components.)
