Make sure you did not change the display drivers. Laptop drivers must come from Dell and not Nvidia, Intel or AMD, etc. You need the Dell customized drivers to work right. This is a user to user forum. If you didn't change the drivers, contact Dell Support directly for help with a new computer.

See this site for your drivers: Support for XPS 17 9710 | Drivers & Downloads | Dell US

That's the artifact-filled low-rez display caused by the incompatible Intel UHD graphic driver that has caused problems for several users including me on a new 9710. Roll back the Intel driver to an earlier version. The solved it for me. Either do it from device manager or if you cant get there, try a command prompt,

Just in case you didn't know, your 30 day return window begins on the shipping date and not the date that you received the laptop. If you bought it directly from Dell that is.
