How to disable shutdown when closing laptop lid

Hello,

I'm on a Dell XPS 15 9560 and I recently replaced the battery so am using the laptop unplugged more now (the old battery couldn't hold charge so it was always plugged in). 

When plugged in, I can close the lid, the laptop will go to sleep/hibernate and I can always open it back up, sign back in, and be exactly where I left off with all the application open. With the laptop unplugged however, I can close the lid, have the system sleep for 20-30 minutes but after a certain duration (like over night) the laptop will shut itself down and so next time I open the light, I have to reboot and re-open applications. Actually, I've also had blue screens upon re-start so it's like it's not shutting down properly; leaving me wondering if the shutdown when unplugged is a "feature" or if this is an issue with the new battery or how I installed the battery. Note, when I re-open my laptop in the morning after being unplugged and shutting itself down, the battery is at 30%-50%+ charge so it doesn't appear to be like it's "drained" and that's why it shuts down.

With all that said, I'm looking for ways to disable the shutting down of the system when the lid is closed when I'm unplugged. I want it to hibernate instead. I've been through the control panel, battery options and "what to do when lid is closed" options and that's all set to "sleep" instead of "shutdown" but maybe I'm missing an option somewhere for hibernating when unplugged.
