Dell XPS 13 9370

Just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue, i have the above model of laptop, purchased September 2018, recently failed to start up. It is out of warranty September 2019, i removed the back cover to discover the  below, Am disappointed as the laptop has been fine until now, as it is out of warranty i have been advised that a hefty cost to repair. Is this normal wear and tear damage and not a fault. Would you agree with this?? I realise i should have got the extended warranty, but do feel this is not really fit for purpose if this happens after 18 months?
