Dell Update caused a sudden unexpected reboot
My XPS 15 suddenly restarted without warning while I was in the middle of using the laptop. The event log shows the entry listed below. I last ran Dell Update a number of days ago, and don't see why it needed to initiate a restart at this time.
How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

Dell's forum keeps removing my post here as SPAM. This is my 3rd attempt to add information to the problem report.
I just experienced same issue as OP.
Below is my system log info similar to OP's info. System rebooted in the middle of me working without any chance for me to save files.
I have a Dell XPS 15 9560. If you have a different computer or setup, I can't say if my experience applies to you so contact support if you are uncertain.
I contacted Dell Support and they instructed me to uninstall "Dell Update" via Add/Remove. I did that. I cannot say that advice applies to any other users.
Support instructed me that Dell Update is an old updater now replaced by Support Assist which I should be using.
There was a point discussed with support that Dell Update should not be rebooting without a user kicking off an update. I did nothing to kick off any Dell Update updates today. I checked app log to see if there were any clues as to what might have kicked this off. I put app log information below.
From are "Dell" events copy pasted from Windows Application Log:
10:18:34PM: System-Restore event source: Successfully created restore point (Process = C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe; Description = Dell Client Management Service).
10:19:31PM: System-Restore event source: Successfully created restore point (Process = C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe; Description = Dell Client Management Service).

10:21:01PM: MsiInstaller event source: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Dell Update. Product Version: 3.1.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Dell Inc.. Installation success or error status: 0.
10:21:01PM: MsiInstaller event source: Windows Installer requires a system restart. Product Name: Dell Update. Product Version: 3.1.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Dell Inc.. Type of System Restart: 1. Reason for Restart: 1.
10:21:02PM: MsiInstaller event source: Ending a Windows Installer transaction: C:\WINDOWS\{D9D526E4-4469-47D1-A5F7-65696A7980DD}\DellUpdate.msi. Client Process Id: 11292.
10:21:02PM: MsiInstaller event source: The Windows Installer initiated a system restart to complete or continue the configuration of 'Dell Update'.
My system log is omitted from here because it is similar to OPs and I'm trying to avoid SPAM filter so will leave it out.
Thanks.

I found that this was due to the Dell Support Assistant app.
Settings > Check for updates
You can also view the history of the updates and mine corresponded with the restart and this eventlog message. In my case it did not restart and I had to power the machine back on
