XPS 8940, Noctua NH-U9S fan not read by Dell diags
My XPS 8940 is not a year old. Installed a Noctua NH-U9S shortly after purchase. After over a year of start ups, today for the first time some weird diagnostics test ran. Upon Completion, it said their was an issue with the motherboard fan, however the fan is working fine? I figured I would post here to see if this was a real issue, or possible glitch since the fan is aftermarket. And why now? Thanks!

There error only happens when it runs the test. I think I may have accidentally hit F12 during startup since I have not seen this test in the 1 1/2 years I have had the computer. The fan has been in for over a year with no issues.

The BIOS monitoring works by RPM (and RPM range) . It's trying to help you not burn-up your expensive CPU.
There are several parameters that must be matched if trying to replace a fan in a retail pre-built (Dell, HP, etc.). This includes minimum and maximum RPM (as well as size, voltage, etc.).
