XPS 8940, can it be upgraded to RTX 4070 Ti?

Actually according to the NVidia specs the 3070 requires a 650W PSU and the 4070 Ti requires a 700W PSU. If you are running the 3070 with a 500W PSU now, that is a push. The 4070 Ti would be that much more of a load on the 500W PSU.

Just installed RTX 4070 FE on my machine and works flawlessly! Since you already have 3070 buying an 4070 should do much better! I used to have an 3060ti.

You will need a 6 to 8 pin adapter though if you have 6+2 and 6 pin only. Or alternatively, I believe ASUS requires only an 8 pin just like your current GPU, so technically should be just plug&play for you.

Hey I also recently got a RTX 4070 FE, however when I plugged it in and powered it up, it seems that the computer won't recognize the GPU and the Fans aren't spinning either, I don't know if it's cause of human error when plugging it in or just that my computer won't recognize the new card

Not sure if this reply will take any effect though or if is too late, but as fas as I can tell probably you didnt connect all the required psu pins to the card?

Your Dell should come with 1x8pin and 1x6pin power pins from your 500W one (I assume you have the 500W of course). Remember, 4070FE needs 16 PSU pins so you will need these 2 extras as aforementioned in my previous comment.

Also, perhaps you will need to do a clean stalling of your previous GPU's drivers, use revo uninstaller to be absolutely sure. Then install your 4070 and install its drivers.

Did you upgrade the BIOS of the 8940 to the latest version? Assuming that would be needed besides the correct power adapter.

I am eyeballing a 4070 too as it has the same TDP/TGP as the 3060Ti that I have in the 8940 now.
