XPS 8930, SSD I/O causes the fans to spin up

Hi everyone, my XPS 8930 spins up it's fans under heavy I/O to the SSD and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this same thing?  Any read or write involving the SSD will immediately kickup the fans to high. As soon as the IO is finished, the fans return to normal.  Is this normal for the 8930? My BIOS is version 1.1.15

Bought the XPS 8930 new in February and installed a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB NVMe SSD in the system along with a Radeon RX 570.  (See the attached System Information screenshot for more details). Everything else is stock.

Thank you!

Heat       Check you CPU temp during heavy I/O.  Your i9-9900 is a very nice processor @ 65 watts, however, since it does not end with "K" (95 watts) dell provides a small toy of a CPU cooler. The fans you hear screaming are the CPU fan and the top exhaust fan. Your top exhaust fan is probably 92mm, and if so, needs to be upgraded to 120mm. You should also consider adding a lower front intake fan.

This is the blower style CPU cooler that comes with the "K" processor  (click photos to embiggen)

Thankyou for that awesome reply! I do sadly have the "toy" cooler bleh! And the 92mm top case fan as you mentioned. What CPU cooler specifically can I install that will fit properly inside the case? Seems like there isn't a lot of height clearance.  Can I purchase the more beefy cooler from Dell?

Yes, it can be purchased from Dell or elsewhere online. This link to the big auction site will provide the Dell part numbers.

Prices can fluctuate widely, so shop around smartly.

This is the work I did to my  XPS 8930 Fan Mods
