XPS 8930 SE, Whisper Quiet?

I'm looking at an XPS 8930 SE edition, i9-9900k, 850w PS with GTX GPU, maybe 1650.  I had an XPS 8930 non SE but promptly returned it due to excessive fan noise.  My current PC, i7-4770, 500w PS with GTX-750 runs absolutely quiet with zero detectable fan noise.  Its on 12-16 hrs per day, everyday and runs (2) 28" 4k Ultra HD monitors at 3140 x 2160 and (1) 24" at 1920 x 1080.  I don't game and don't do realistic phot or image rendering.

The XPS 8930 SE offers a lot but unless there is something different with the i9-9900 cpu cooling and/or some other airflow improvement I'm left thinking the 850w PS being severely under-utilized in my application would be the only improvement, if any.  The description and advertising for the SE states "WHISPER QUIET even under heavy load" but I question what that really means.  So, can I expect a much quieter experience or am I wasting time and money on having to return another one.

Thanks,
Bjw

Thanks for the response !!

The XPS 8930 was an i7-9700 with 400w PS and GTX 1660Ti.  The bios update did nothing.  Being spoiled with my current PC's zero fan noise a new PC running the exact same software and monitors baffles me as to why one has to endure jet engine noise.....just intolerable.

If 90mm fans are stock in the 8930 SE then sadly they would be the same as on my returned unit.  I did do some research on replacing the 90mm with 120mm and seems a worthwhile revision.  Adding more fans I hadn't thought of but certainly feasible and apparently some have successfully done that.  Hard to swallow those pills after one chunks down $$$$ for a new PC only to have to mod it to make it acceptable for everyday use.
The customized 8930 SE for me is the best machine compared to many others....guess its time to flip the coin.

The case design is restrictive but, "after-the-fact".  As a new product development engineer I should have worded my comment differently, suffice to say the design is poor but never should have gotten through the design process in the first place.  This appears as the only empirical testing done was by those who bought them and so doesn't speak very highly to the development process as a whole.  A designer of doors for BMW wouldn't make it past the first prototype if it rattled like a tin can.

Thanks again for the comments as they are much appreciated.  The mods would not be an issue, I have several switching power supplies that also have loud fans, well, they used to anyways.

Sadly I went back to buy this tonight and there was a price increase amounting to $500....geeze oh peeze...must have been a holiday price deal going on that stopped midnight yesterday.  Back to the drawing board...

@B-j-w   - Check Dell's prices maybe about once/twice a week for a bit. They sometimes go up/down seemingly "randomly," and order when you see a price you like. CAVEAT: With all the supply chain issues these days (for obvious reasons), prices might not go down for a while...

Don't know where you're located, but in US, Dell sometimes has discount coupon codes on their site. Right now I see a $50 off coupon code on XPS laptop and desktops costing >$699.99, that you'd apply during checkout. That should cover the cost to upgrade to the 850W PSU in an XPS 8930 SE.

And you might want to join Dell Rewards before placing your order. You'd earn 3% of purchase price in "points" you can use toward another purchase from Dell, that's made within 90 days of points being credited, or up to 6% if you finance the purchase through Dell. if you sign up for Rewards, wait for their confirmation email before placing your order, to make sure this purchase will qualify.

Maybe this will help reduce the bite out of your wallet, at least a little...
