XPS 730(X), how to remove chipset cooler

Dried thermal bond becomes epoxy gluing the cooler to chipset.

The cooler heatsink is literally glued to chipset like a rock.  But actually the cold plate is not bond to chipset directly.  It is bond to a heat pipe assembly which sits on chipset by retention screws. If you uninstall the motherboard you will find the heat pipe retention screws on the back side.  Loosen those screws will detach the cooler and heat pipe from actual chipset. Mission accomplished easy no risk of motherboard destruction

step 2 now the cooler is detached from mobo, much easier to work on heat pipe detachment from cold plate. Use a small flat blade screw driver wedge into the interface and apply gentle prying, you hear a dry pop and a clean separation accomplished between cold plate and heat pipe.  The glue was not as strong as you might think.  It was really just dryness stuck the two together for years like wallpaper but can be easily removed if the technique is applied tangentially. Mission accomplished step 2
