I have a Studio XPS 8000 with 4 sata ports labelled 1-4 on the motherboard. What are the speeds of these ports? Are any 6gb?

Thanks, now I have to work out if an SSD disk is worth getting. Sounds as though it isn't

SSD improves boot time. Does not improve FPS in games for example.
GPU like GT1030 improves performance quite a bit. Ram up to 8 gigs improves some games and multi tasking. More than 8 gigs is very minor improvement.
Recommended GT1030 cards are the ones that use GDDR5
DDR4 cards are horrible and should be avoided.
ZOTAC ZT-P10300A-10L is a popular choice.

I have a modern / recent ssd in my XPS 8000 running Windows 10, made a massive improvement to boot times and responsiveness compared to a traditional hard drive. Probably the single most effective upgrade that can be done to this machine. With that said you always have to consider whether the money could be better spent saving towards a new system and that will depend on your circumstances.
