If you can not boot to OS on old hdd, need to install a new hdd with OS, then in Windows explorer
Right click on the old Drive
Select Properties
Select Tools
Click Check under Error Reporting
If you can still boot to OS on the old hdd, just try the above. no guarantee it will fix error but worth a try. retrieve old data asap then replace with new hdd. not safe to keep using old dying hdd.
