Dell XPS PC GPU upgrade

Hello

I have  a Dell XPS 8930 with 8gb ddr4 2400mhz ram, 460 watt PSU, and an i3 8100.

I want to put a rear-exhaust 6gb GTX 1060 into this computer, and was wondering if this was possible, and if not, what do I need to do to make it possible.

Thanks for any help

What GPU do you have now? Or do you only have onboard Intel UHD Graphics?

Dell sold this PC model with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GDDR5 which requires a  6-pin PCI-e power connection from the PSU, and needs a 400W PSU.

Check the power supply size recommendation for the specific card you want vs your PSU which is probably 460W.  And check the length of the card too. It can be tight fit inside the XPS 8930 case for long(er) video cards.

You will probably have to disable Secure Boot in BIOS setup to allow a retail video card to work in this PC.

I have the onboard UHD graphics. My power supply is rated for 460 watts, and the recommended power supply for that gpu plus current configuration is 400 watts. I do not have a card yet, as I am looking for the more rare rear blower design beacuse i have heard they work better in the XPS cases, which have limited airflow. I estimate the card will be 7 to 8 inches.

Thank you so much for your help, i appreciate your quick response!

Lots of threads about updating the GPU in the XPS 8930 with 460W PSU, like this long one. Don't know which ones have a blower vs fan(s).
