BIOS V2.8.0 released
Giving it a try in hopes the Nvidia Problem is fixed.
Only CVE's listed as included.
Manual d/l and Install of file.
Contents:
Of course the Capsule Update needed to be reset and saved as Custom.
Hopefully this WILL be better than the last one.
No way to tell from the description if this fixes it or not?

Very interested to hear how it works out. Given the quick succession of BIOS updates, I can only hope they are close to resolving the Nvidia issue as well. If I install, I will install manually from a USB stick. Thanks!

So far, so good, but it is only one day. After a week I might declare it fixed.
Of course Dell only mentioned CVE's on this drop. If some were really serious, you would see a lot of closely spaced drops of files, so it is really hard to tell? Wish they'd post publicly the status of this Nvidia problem. However one of the moderator''s in another thread said, and I quote, "We have sold +490K XPS 8940s. If this was truly a systemic fault with the entire line and all Nvidia cards, we would be seeing more users stating same issue."

Usually goes on 7AM or later. Kept on all day, and off around 8-9PM. Retired, so the actual use is intermittent, depends what I am doing that day... could be used most of the day, or sitting idle with the Screen Saver on and disk powered off.
Starting Day 3, no problem yet.

Well, I didn't get through the 3rd day and it locked up. No better than V2.7.0 I'd say... sigh...
I wish there was a WAY to get some status on this problem.

Same thing with me... my computer locked up a few hours after installing V2.8.0. Going back again to V2.3.0

I dislike going so far back. Too many CVE's and possibly other stuff has been included since V2.3.0.
I noticed again the strange occurrence after I powered off with the power button and restarted the XPS. First power on, the CD drive flickered for a few seconds and then the power button went off...??? Something was wrong with the H/W or the state it was in that probably indicates. Turning the XPS on again worked as normal and Windows came up. I did see this before, but I don't recall always seeing this when there was the Lock-up on ALL BIOS versions?
Can't find anything relevant in the Event Viewer either for that?
Ran SFC /SCANNOW and DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /SCANHEALTH to see if there is a problem and both found no problems?
I thinking the h/w was in a strange state and powering off did not reset it. First attempt to power the XPS on did reset it, but it causes the BIOS power-up to quit?
Did you notice this when powering up?
