Reorganizing OU's in AD

Reorganizing OU's in AD

Hello

We are reorganizing the AD structure and are going to need to move all devices to new OU.

I am wondering about whether it would cause problems if I mass-moves all Wyse devices to a new OU in AD, instead of doing that for each device through WSM as it lacks functionality for bulk move between OU's.

I tested with one device and I see it don't get updated in the device in WSM. I belive it don't matter, but I'm asking here just to be sure.

You shouldn't move devices in AD as this will break the pointer to the computer object in WSM.
I'll do some research and let you know if this is feasable with the current release.

Looks like recent versions of WSM support a mass movement of devices from one OU to another directly in AD.

1. Go to AD and create a new OU from “Active Directory Users and Computers”.
2. Select all devices and move to the newly created OU.
3. Wait for “Synchronization Polling Frequency” so WSM syncs with AD.
4. Go to WSM Admin UI Device OU section under AD settings page. The newly created OU will automatically appear in Admin UI.
5. Boot the device and log in.
