802.1x certificate based wireless solution on mobile disconnected devices -supported?

802.1x certificate based wireless solution on mobile disconnected devices -supported?

we have a few hundreds of laptop which are provisioned as WSM mobile disconnected devices, with persistent cache mode. Currently we are using WPA2 passphrase to connect these laptops to wireless network. I'm wondering about whether its possible / supported to use 802.1x machine certificate for logging on to wireless network. It would make some administering easier (GPO benefits, etc)

I am thinking that machine certificates are issued per device, so in this case, I would get certificate on reference device. Maybe I would need to clear this certificate before image gets rolled out, so it forces provisioned devices to get a fresh certificate that don't belong to the reference device? Hm.

If 802.1x is only used for wireless Network Adapter I don't see any issues as it is not used for any WSM related activities.
