ThinOS 2208 3.2.2102 no Webcam in RDP Session

Hello,

we are trying to forward a Logitech Webcam C920 to our Windows Terminal Server 2016. But we are not able to get the webcam working on the server for MS Teams.

On the server we have disabled the policy (GPO) "Do not allow supported Plug and Play device redirection"

In the WMS admin policies we made the following settings:

"USB Redirection Exclude Video Devices" --> disabled

"Enable USB Redirection " --> enabled

Installed packages: Microsoft_AVD_1.8.1819.pkg-V1.8.1819

What additional setting are necessary to forward the Webcam into the RDP session?

Regards, Frank

According to the admin guide you should not need to do anything specific on the ThinOS side

You would want to leave this enabled.

USB Redirection Exclude Video Devices" --> disabled

You are trying to let the broker protocol (RDP) redirect the webcam, not USB.

If you still struggle, I would test with the 2211 and AVD 1.9 releases, and open a support case if needed.

Same behavior with 2211 and AVD 1.9....

I went back and re-read from the beginning.  Looks like you are trying to redirect the camera into teams. Microsoft wants video/audio in teams to be optimized.  Currently, the AVD/RDP client provided by Microsoft does not support teams optimization, it is expected in the future from MS, and when it does Dell will support it.  Teams optimization is currently available for Citrix and Horizon on ThinOS.

This thread does contain some info on a possible workaround to install the WebRTC redirector service in your session host and adjust the registry.  You would ignore the items in section 1 to edit your RDP file as you dont have the ability with ThinOS

In that case I would suggest you open a support case..

I think there must be an other problem. USB drives aren't working as well. They don't get redirected into the RDP session. In my RDP session i can't see any devices wich are connectet to the wyse thinos 5070 in the device manager ot the terminal server.

I have an old setup running with thinos 8.6. With this setup everything is working (audio ,video and drive redirecting).
