Wyse 3020 Merlin v8.6 neither 32bit nor 64bit image
Hello everyone,
i recently baught a Wyse 3020 Model Tx0D and iÄm trying to upgrade it to ThinOS v8.6 using the USB Imaging Tool. Strangely when adding the image xm-file the tool reports that "the selected image is not compatible to 32 Bit architecture". When setting to 64 Bit it reports the same thing for 64 Bit architecture.
Unfortunately there is nothing more to set.
Does anyone else seen this error before?
Greetings

When trying to add the Merlin image in the firmware tool, specifically which file are you trying to add? The .RSP or the .XML?
You should be using the .XML.
In addition, as the 3020 is quite old, you may need to try some older versions of the USBFT.

I used the xml-file since there was no rsp-file. I tried USB tool v3.3.0, 3.2.0 and a slightly old 2.x. But i can try some other versions i guess.
The 3020 i'm using is from 2017. It was one of the newer ones on ebay

Can you share the service tag off the device?
You can PM me if you are not comfortable posting publicly.

I see the same problem when trying to use USBFT 3.3. I am looking into it.
I do see here, https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=28yk2&oscode=thn80&productcode=wyse-3020
that it specifically calls out USBFT 3.1, Have you tried that version?

Hey,
i just tired v3.1.0 of the USB imaging tool. Unfortunately the result is the same.
I think the XML-file or the image itself is faulty.
I tried updating the device via Wyze Management Suite but this doesnt seem to work either.
I just leave it that way and move on to another machine.
Thanks for your help buffalobound

When you go through the wizard, choose the XML file instead of an RSP and find commandsxml.xml

@buffalobound I am having same issue with a WYSE 5010 trying to image from 8.1_027 to 8.6 . The merlin image file doesn't contain an .rsp file for use with the USB imaging tool. I tried version 3.1 and 3.3 of the tool with no luck. Have you had any luck with prior versions of the USB tool?
Thanks!

Please use USBFT from: https://downloads.dell.com/wyse/USBFT/2.1.0.12/
Next download OS_Merlin_v8.6_B013_3020_T10D_ENG.zip : https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER05387191M/1/OS_Merlin_v8.6_B013_3020_T10D_ENG.zip
Extract v8.6_B013_3020_T10D_ENG and inside extract folder: 3020_8.6_013_EN
On USBFT push chose and select OS architecture ARM and click "+" change from rsp. to xml and go to folder
Extract v8.6_B013_3020_T10D_ENG/3020_8.6_013_EN/commandsXml.xml
Click on Configure USB Drive
