Can access computers only when on same network
Can access computers only when on same network
I hope this question has not already been asked. I looked but couldn't find an answer.
I'm using:
Win 7 pro
Droid X 2.2
Windows Companion 2.0.3
I'm using RDP. My Home computer is connected to a Router. I can only remotely access it using the IP address given to the computer by the router when my Droid X is connected to the same router. When I try to access it through 3G or from a different WiFi connection it won't let me connect (Could not connect to server). The same thing is happening with my office computer. Are there any settings in the Router I need to change to make it work?

OK, here is what happed. I had a spelling mistake in my port forwarding settings. Stupid, but it's usually those things that take the longest to find. PocketCloud is working perfect now with my home computer on LAN and WAN. My office computer is a different story. My best guess why it only works on LAN is that my company has very strong security settings "at least I hope so..." and I have to sign in through a VPN when I want to connect from outside. I just need to figure out how to get the VPN going on my Android and then it should work.

Hi Chris,
Have you tried auto-discovery by setting Gmail credentials on Windows Companion and Droid X 2.2?
Or do you mean auto-discovery is not working?
If you want to use direct connection. You may need this: http://www.wyse.com/products/softwar.../faq/index.asp
Point 4:
# How do I configure my router for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) so I can connect to my Home PC?

And to answer our other suggestion. I tried auto-discovery, but as soon as the Task Killer on my Droid ends the PocketCloud application I'm unable to log back in. And for some reason, when I end a session normal the PC companion logs out and I cant find the PC in the Auto-discovery list anymore.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was on that page before and must have completely missed it. Anyway, it still does not work. The port forwarding of my router is asking me for incoming ports. Not sure what to put in there. I followed the steps in the FAQ section and that is the only thing I can think of thats not working. Assuming that 3389 is the outgoing port. This way I cant even connect when my Droid is o the same router.
