WMS 4.3 - standard license renewal procedure?

Hello,

I am preparing to upgrade my WMS from version 4.1.1 (standard) to 4.3 HF1 (standard). I have a question regarding the license renewal process, because in Dell's article https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000220228/wyse-management-suite-standard-installation-changes - in the 3rd question of the FAQ section, it is said, that "customers return to the same page to generate a new key". I have prepared a small lab and upgraded a clone of my WMS on a different VM. Then I altered the system clock to be 29.04.2026 (to simulate an expiration of the license). After I log in - I can see a message that the license is expired and all sections of the WMS are locked.

Does anyone know where to put the newly generated license key to the WMS in that situation? Will TCs stop communicating with the WMS if the license is expired? I would like to know that before I upgrade my production installation :-)

Kind Regards,

Przemek

  1. Get a new license key from where you got the old one.
  2. Log in to WMS.
  3. Go to license settings.
  4. Put in the new key.
  5. Save and restart.
  6. Your WMS should be good to go!

As for TCs, usually they'll still work even if the license is expired, but it's best to check with Dell just to be sure.

@krishan91

Hi

Do you mean the "Enter license key" field at the bottom of the Portal Administration -> Account -> Subscription page? I am not sure if this is for the Cloud subscription only and I am using an On-Prem installation (sorry - I did not mention that in my previous post). If you put anything to that field - you get a warning that you are about to upgrade your license from Standard to Pro. So I am confused, if this field is used for both: On-Prem and Cloud licenses...

Following.  I have a similar issue.  After migrating my virtual server from one machine to another, my license expired.  So I applied for a new license and my server won't take the new one.

I tried to upgrade as well.  I was able to register the on premise but when I copy the license key into the page, it tells me that the license key is not valid. Quite frustrating to say the least.

It seems that Dell has added the missing feature in the latest version of the WMS (4.4). I have not tested it yet, though.

@guillaume.db

I had exactly the same problem as what you describe.

I was also running version 4.4.0 211

After upgrading WMS to the latest availailable version (4.4.1 138), the copy of the masked "WMS On-Premise Renewal Identifier" works fine

Latest version of WMS can be downloaded from https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER12373980M/1/WMS_4.4.1.138.exe

Hello

It works fine with last build

Since 4.4.211 I have an other problem after reboot, WMS is not availaible

There is a problem with Tomcat and "server shutdown port" that we need to change (8005 by default, change to 8006 for example) and restart Tomcat service

After next reboot, WMS is broken again, need to change from 8006 to 8005 and restart service again...

Anyone have this problem ?

Hi!

When I try to renew my Standart license, I get the error "The country selected does not match. Please select the correct country that was provided during registration." The country was listed as US when I registered and I am now selecting the same country. Has anyone encountered the same problem?

WMS version is 4.4.1 138

@guillaume.db @ldhoore:

Same issue. But I have already 4.4.1.138 installed. However, in WMS under Account -> Subscription, 4.4.221 is showing. Could you tell me if 4.4.221 is also showing in your WMS?

Anwer from Dell support:

Once suggestion you could try is to RDP into the WMS machine and try renewal from RDP session than the direct machine? There could be a clipboard copy issue? Give it a try and let me know.

This is how I was able to fix the issue!
