v1.4 Issues

Has anyone tried v1.4 yet? We just upgraded and the UI is unresponsive in certain areas and throws up errors in others. I can roll back to 1.3 if I need to but I figured I would ask around first.

I just worked on something similar in my lab.

Can you check the following.

1) Run a netstat -ano |more

Do you see anything listening on port 11211  ?

2) Check the following reg key

                HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\memcached

             ImagePath=

Can you post the path?  Remove your server name before posting.

I have had nothing but troubles with the latest build of Chrome and WMS.

What is your experience when using IE with 1.4?  Is it the same?

I tried it in IE and I had the same issues, including the error message when going to the System Setup area within Administration.

Unfortunately I've rolled back to 1.3 because 1.4 was unusable for me. I tried calling support but they weren't able to help in a timely fashion either so I'm just going to wait on this one.

I do have issues after upgrading WMS to Version 1.4 too. For example i can not open groups in the Groups & Configs Tab. I keep getting a timeout. The ImagePath in Registry before upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 was: "C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Memcached\memcached.exe" -d runservice and Port 11211 was listened to. After upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 the ImagePath is: "C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Memcached\memcached.exe" -d runservice -I SERVERNAME -U 0 and there is nothing listening on Port 11211 anymore. I removed the part "-I SERVERNAME -U 0" from the ImagePath in the Registry, rebooted WMS and everything is working fine now. WMS is listening on Port 11211 again.

Sorry for the bad formatting. Once again:

I do have issues after upgrading WMS to Version 1.4 too. For example i can not open groups in the Groups & Configs Tab. I keep getting a timeout.

The ImagePath in Registry before upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 was:

"C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Memcached\memcached.exe" -d runservice

and Port 11211 was listened to.

After upgrading from 1.3 to 1.4 the ImagePath is:

"C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Memcached\memcached.exe" -d runservice -I SERVERNAME -U 0

and there is nothing listening on Port 11211 anymore.

I removed the part "-I SERVERNAME -U 0" from the ImagePath in the Registry, rebooted WMS and everything is working fine now. WMS is listening on Port 11211 again.

That is the fix that seems to have worked for others as well.

Revert the memcached service settings to pre 1.4

The new WMS repository setup is cool that if finally support synchronizing files, but losing the ability to specify which specific repository out of multiple  delivers and application was not a WYSE move.

I had the same exact issues going from 1.1 to 1.2HF1 to 1.4. Certain menus would never retrieve the data and eventually timeout.

Troubleshooting went no where and I wish I would have seen this thread sooner because I would tried the registry fix.

I ended up building a brand new server, installed 1.4, and mirrored my 1.1 config. I'm not seeing the UI issues anymore. I've moved 7 thin clients to the new server already by using a GROUP.INI and so far so good. I'll be moving the other 120 thin clients next week. I'll keep you posted on 1.4's performance once it's managing 120+ clients.

1.4 coupled with ThinOS 8.6 is great!

I directed Dell Support to your suggestion which fixed our problem. He said that he's going to report the problem to the developers. We're now on 1.4 with no known issues now, but I'm holding onto our 1.3 snapshot for a while just to be sure. Thanks @buffalobound !

Thanks for this solution. It needs to be bumped and kept very visible until Dell integrates the fix in an official release. (I'm surprised it hasn't happened already).

If it weren't for buffalobound's solution I would have been stuck rolling back. Thanks!

Thanks M.Lang, that worked for us too. We had upgraded from 1.3 to 1.4 and found 1.4 to be unusable. TBH we founf 1.4 unusable on a fresh install, maybe this fix would of saved us from reinstalling on 1.3! Cheers,Gerg

We did a fresh install of 1.4 and we experienced this issue.  The install was successful but when trying to Edit Policies the configuration screen would stay on the spinning wheel.  Refreshing the screen and rebooting the server did not resolve.  We edited the reg key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\memcached and removed this portion of the key value = "-I SERVERNAME -U 0".   After a reboot of the WMS server the Admin Console > Edit Policies came up successfully and quickly.

You guys are amazing. Saved me so much pain.  I do wonder why Dell have not yet fixed this.

Thank you all very much again!
