XPS 8700, PTT for Windows 11

I currently have an older 2013 XPS desktop computer XPS 8700 with processor Intel Core i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz. I am trying to look for the PPT in the BISO but not able to see it. I went all over the place in the BIOS setting under Security and Advanced. No such option to turn ON. Meanwhile, my desktop is able to support bitlocker.

Can someone please let me know if my current desktop is not able to support Windows 11 due to some lacking of this security feature?

Is it my processor chip is too old and not able to support Windows 11?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is too old --too old processor, no TPM, no drivers. See - Dell computers tested for upgrade to Windows 11 | Dell US

The only 2 XPS desktops that will get Win 11-- XPS 8940 and XPS 8930

Windows 10 will be supported until 2025.

Thanks for the reply Mary G.  I guess I have no choice but to invest in a new desktop if I want to run Windows 11.   Not sure if I can just upgrade the processor to solve this issue ?

Unfortunately not, intel doesn't support a motherboard for more than 1 or 2 generations.

Your processor is 4th gen and minimum required is 8th gen, so processor upgrade is also not an option for you.

Don't be a hurry, let windows 11 come, lets see how online community deals with this, there may be workarounds or they may not. Any ways windows 10 is supported for 4 more years.

Yup wait

Don't be too optimistic though

Microsoft seems pretty strict this time. They kinda want to control the hardware their OS runs ON

Thank-you for the info XPS_Man.  Yes It is unfortunate that I have an older PC with 4th gen processor.  It is still running great and support what I needed to do.  Just wish that Microsoft will be able to have a workaround to upgrade to Win11 for people like me.

I guess I have no choice but to wait for it to come.  Hopefully by then,  Microsoft will have a solution for my TPM/PTT issue.   Also,  at this point  I don't plan to buy a new PC just to have Win11 running as I initially spent a lot of money getting my current system and hoping that it will last me for a while...

Although my XPS8700 processor is old i7-4790 and probably not able to meet the requirement to install Windows 11 especially if I am missing TPM 2.0.  One thing I don't understand is that I do have bitlocker running in my system.  If I don't have TPM or PTT,  how can I run bitlocker ?  My understanding is that bitlocker requires this security protocol.   Please correct me if I am wrong.
