WIndows XP Font Issue

Hello all,

I'm having a problem that is just driving me crazy!  A few days ago, after I installed a program called dbpowerAMP, which is a CD ripper and music converter, the fonts in my Windows XP-based computer went haywire.  Specifically, fonts in virtually all program applications (everything from IE to OE to dbpowerAMP itself) would not display in their usual font style, but would instead display in a different, random font.  I tried everything from messing with the Appearance in Display Properties to playing with HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes in the registry, but nada!  I'm guessing that dbpowerAMP did something to the default Windows XP font settings.  And stupid me, I turned off System Restore, so that's not an option (believe me, I've learned my lesson, and it's on right now!)  So basically, I just want all my application to display their default fonts.  Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Try a restore of the system to a date prior to the onset of the problem that you are having and the installation of this software. If this does not work try a repair install of windows to clear this problem.

Hello again,

I feel that my explanation of the problem I am experiencing is not clear, so allow me to post some pictures that demonstrate this problem:

I hope that these images help shed light on my problem.  Does anyone have any idea what might have caused this sudden font change?  How can I revert back to the default Windows XP fonts?  And how might I prevent something like this from happening in the future?  As I said before, I cannot use System Restore, because I had stupidly turned it off.  And I cannot repair install XP because I have SP2, and my SP1 Setup Disc won't allow me to install an older version of Windows XP.  My gut tells me that this a registry problem, maybe linked to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes.  But I'm not sure.  Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
