Windows restart shortcut key

I was the given the following shortcut key but I am unable to get this to work on my ME system. Does anyone know if this works on other operating systems or if it used to work on earlier versions of Windows? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

: SHIFT + RESTART: To restart Windows and not your whole computer, hold down the SHIFT key when you click the OK button on the Shut Down screen. This will save a lot of time.

It doesn't work on my WinME system either.  I don't recall ever trying it on 98SE, although I believe there was some sort of "quick restart" shortcut for that OS.  There's no "OK" button involved in WinXP, so it wouldn't be a factor on that OS.

There's some evidence here that this shortcut only worked with Win95/Win98.

I dont know about short cut keys but here is some thing I have used successfully with ME for the past three years.

To make a shortcut to reboot right click on an open spot on your desk top then on the drop down menu click new and select shortcut,  in the command line type in                                              C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 2

If you also want a short cut to shut down repeat the above procedure but in the command line type

C:\WINDOWS\RUNDLL32.EXE shell32.dll,SHExitWindowsEx 1

I put my short cuts on the task bar then one click does the job you can also right click on the shoret cut and change the icon.  Let me know how you make out.
