Windows Media Player 11 won't launch
Hello all,
I have read about others having this problem.
Windows XP, Windows Media Player 11 won't launch for one user, but launches fine on another users profile. No errors, just won't open. I have taken the following actions. I am up for removing windows media player all together and re-installing it, but unable to do so.
Tried to uninstall Windows Media Player 11, but it just tries to roll back to the previous version (10) and locks up my computer.
Tried to run the setup files in c:\program files\Windows Media Player... but it says the latest version is already installed.
Changed the shortcut target from "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:1
to
"C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"
Ran Spybot S&D
Ran Ad-Ware with the settings described in this link. (found 2 objects and quarantined them)
What else can I try? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
