windows 8.1 security query ?
G'day gentlefolk,
i am curious, with the much trumpetted improved securtiy of Windows 8.1, is 3rd party software still necessary ??
i am currently paying for AVG and Malwarebytes, but in the absence of an income would very much like to save teh fees.
Any thoughts or comments much appreciated ??

I would continue to use security software. I personally have Windows 8.1 installed on my laptop and use the free version of Avast. Avast also has paid upgrades with added security, but so far I have not had any attacks with the free version. There are also other free anti-virus programs available as well. I do not know if one software is better than the rest. Try some out to make your own decision.
