matrex_a1990,
* Go here: http://dell.to/TZf93Z
* Click on Inspiron Laptop
* As you can see the N5010 is not in the supported list. Unsupported systems are not recommended for upgrade to Windows 8 by Dell
However if you have already installed Windows 8 on your computer, I request you to do a complete Windows update. If this doesn’t work, use the below link and download the Windows 7 drivers and check if it works:
http://dell.to/UTwbyB
If none of the above steps work, please visit the manufacturer website and check for the drivers.

This is insane. I have a 1 year old laptop and it doesn't support windows 8? Surely there is an upgrade path for this.

Its sad that the system is unsupported by Dell but it will run Windows 8 without many issues. In addition try taking drivers for supported Dell systems and elsewhere. Try the following:
Storage Controller
RTS5138 Card Reader http://downloads-us.dell.com/FOLDER00730493M/22
SATA
Intel Rapid Storage Technology
CPU
Intel Turbo Boost Monitor Software
Video
ATI 5470 http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/12-10_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4.exe
Input
Synaptics Touchpad http://downloads-us.dell.com/FOLDER00800134M/2
Network
Intel (R) WiMAX Link 6250 http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00964556M/2
Intel (R) WiMAX Link 6250 http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER00787690M/2

Once you have installed the following check the steps here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19473458/20216647.aspx#20216647 and post back if there are any devices needing attention in the device manager.

The drivers are not the problem with the n5010 and windows 8 x64, it is the bios and the power management. Does not always come back from sleep and needs a hard reboot. I had troubles with hibernation as well with the laptop turning itself on.
And mainly after sleeping the temperature of the cpu is up of 10 degrees!

Are you performing a clean installation, see my wiki A Clean install of Windows 8 (in my signature)?

To natc Yes, it will only do a clean install from Win 7 Home premium. It had a long message at the end that basically said it could not install on this machine as it was not compatible and to check with the manufacturer.

Zoomelliott problems installing and did you use a clean install? What BIOS revision are you on?
netspanner what BIOS revision are you on?
Did you have to load SATA drivers during the setup: downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx
What is the temperature of the cpu?

Yes did a clean install of windows 8 with the latest bios, no need to upload any driver before.
The core parking of the processor does not work which means the cpu runs hotter, this can be fixed by editing the registry.
cpu is 55 degrees on low use and comes to 65 after it the computer went to sleep. but that was already the same with original windows 7 and this bios.

Very much disappointed from Dell!
Are their technicians so noob that they can't make drivers for N5010. Why don't the shut down the freaking company. My laptop seems to be no use now. Dell really sux. Won't purchase dell products again and will recommend everyone not to go for this Noob Company.

Actually DELL was a good position in market,but now even you are not providing at least drivers and other companies providing drivers for Windows 8,and your words only directly saying DELL is one and only worst company .If you continue your company attitude like this ,DELL is going vanish from industry
