Win7 OEM Dell still can upgrade to windows 10 for free

Hello everybody.
In the office at work we have all DELL 3010 and 7010 desktops.
All have preinstalled a Windows 7 OEM DELL
I've already done some tests and these PCs are updated to windows 10 obtaining a digital activation.
I'm wondering if I can continue to upgrade the PCs without violating the Microsoft license.

Thank you. Bob

Microsoft Quietly changed policy for WINDOWS PRO

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO

So if you have a windows 7 or 8  PRO Licence it will activate using the OEM KEY. WIN7 will not activate from the SLP key in bios. You must use the COA key.

This will however ONLY work on 1 machine. You cannot use the same key over and over on many machines. Once activated the COA key cannot be transferred to a new machine.

There is no more upgrade period.  There is however clean install.

So you download the 1803 DVD or make an 1803 USB flash drive and boot from USB2 port.

Must be usb2 port or must be burned DVD from ISO to work.

When you install windows if it asks for a key you click the button that says " I do not have a key" and choose windows 10 PRO.  If you have windows 7 ULTIMATE you also choose windows 10 pro.

After booting for the final step you go online and run SLUI 3 from Administrative Command prompt OR you go to the SYSTEM control Panel and click the activate windows button.

You then choose enter the key and use the win7 key from the COA Sticker.

All of the windows 8 machines I have done eventually activate automatically.

I perform an in-place upgrade to go from windows 7 to windows 10 and get the digital activation of every single pc.

I already execute the procedure that you indicate but I do not insert the key present on the stycker glued to the pc case.

So to be compliant with the license I should run the command SLUI 3 and insert the key of the PC styker? Did I understand well? Thanks

I bought a used E6400 on eBay without a hard drive.

I installed a hard drive, then did a clean install of Windows 10 1803.

Activated Windows 10 Home after the installation using the Windows 7 Home Premium key on the COA sticker located on the bottom of the laptop. This method worked for me.

Yep, I've posted about it many times now to give everyone a heads-up. It's worked as upgrade and clean-install for me lately (earlier this year). I haven't tried using a Win-7 Home Premium key lately though, so good to know.

Some say it's a Microsoft over-sight, but I think they know exactly what they are doing (or allowing to happen).

Right. Not only does it make people happy, and add to their installed base numbers ... it gets everyone on a (more current) supported version of Windows and they can shed away resources devoted to Win-7, 8, and 8.1 .

And obviously, it plays-into their plans of world-domination. :Surprise:
