Shortcuts for repeated insertion of text

I utilize certain text for repeat uses, for example, my Dell service tag; my name and title; certain quotes; etc., in various programs.

 

I like to assign such text to various keys on the keyboard, for example, as ctrl key+F1, and so on.

 

I checked the computer Help but it does not explain how to assign such shortcuts; in addition, I have to make sure the process does not overwrite the pre-written program shortcuts as that may foul up certain  programs.

 

In addition do I use the Notepad or the MS WordPad for assigning such text to the keys?
