Reniwg88,

What disk are you missing? If you don't have an XP Reinstallation CD you can format your hard drive with a Windows 9X emergency boot floppy by running FDISK and FORMAT. That will leave you with a blank hard drive. It's not clear what you wish to do. Please elaborate.

Reniwg88,

You probably installed XP from within XP rather than setting your CD-ROM drive as the first boot device in BIOS. The instructions for doing this are here. (The instructions are for Dell Dimensions, but the procedure is similar for all systems.)

After you have done that, follow the procedure given here. At step #5, delete your existing C:\ partition then create a new C:\ (or more, if you desire) from the resulting unpartitioned space and format it/them with NTFS. When Windows XP completes installation, there will be nothing on your hard drive except the operating system, which is what you are after.
