does every dell dimension desktop computer come with a 'microsoft xp boot disk' cd? because my pc is having the same problems and everyone is telling me to use the ["chkdsk /p"] but i don't have the cd. please reply to my message someone! Message Edited by oxyj3nn on 04-19-2007 04:39 PM

It is not a MS boot disk. It the XP reinstall disk and is titled 'For Reinstallation of the Operating System' or something similar. You boot to that, select the Recovery Console and type CHKDSK  /R at the prompt. (not /P) After that runs--make take a long time on big disk--you run FIXBOOT. If you're lucky that will correct the errors.
