No voice in Yahoo Messenger

HI,

I'm new and really need help!  I have run all the tests I know about for my speakers/mic and everything seems fine.

I ran the Yahoo Messenger Audio Setup Wizard and in the last step (5) when you record your voice ...then listen to it...it's like animal growls!  My voice comes through for all the other tests. Then an error message:  Yahoo! voice chat error: connection error

I have the WindowsXP Media edition...a dial up connections. If you need other info please E-mail me. I talk to other students in college and do miss the voice.
