Missing Internet Connection tray icon and Network Adapter list
Good Evening
I have lost my taskbar internet connection icon. While trying to restore it, I find that my network adapter list is missing.
The only com adapter I use is my dial up modem. I am not connected to a LAN or any other network.
My dial up modem works just like it always has, but I can't get to the status panel or verify connection speed.
How can I repopulate the network adapter list and get my taskbar icon back?
Thanks

Go to Start|Control Panel|Network Connections. Right-click your connection icon and choose Properties. On the General tab check the "Show icon in notification area when connected." If you don't have a network adapter one will not be shown. A modem is not a network adapter.

Thanks for the reply.
When I go to ControlPanel/Network Connections the folder is empty. I know that I have a modem and 2 other network adapters installed, I can find them when I go to Device Manager.
How can I get my modem to populate something that I can get a status icon from?
Thanks,

Hi, Denny, and Thanks,
Well, I think I'm getting stumped. I went to the article 825826 and printed it out.
I'm kinda at a loss for what to try next. Is there a way to manually repopulate this list?
I'm thinking that I should make a new connection for my ISP. What do you think?
Thanks,
John
